The Importance of Gratitude

For those of us in the US, Thanksgiving is coming up next week. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it reminds me to be grateful for all the blessings in life.

It’s human nature to look at all that is lacking in life. But when I pause to think about it, I’m incredibly lucky. I have a roof over my head, food to eat and people that love me. What more can I really ask for?

For the longest time, I would struggle to list things I was grateful for. It’s only in the last couple of years, I realized the reason. I was taking everything in my life for granted. From good health to warm winter clothes, I was taking it all for granted. It was entitlement at its finest.

Now, I make a much more conscious effort to express my gratitude, both internally to myself and externally to others. I can’t explain it, but somehow gratitude seems to multiply the blessings in life. So take this time to say thanks for all that you have been given.

Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S: Thank you for giving me the gift of your attention. I truly cherish it.
