Have you noticed how some people can be very perceptive? They know what you are feeling, sometimes even what you are thinking. How do they do this? How can this skill of perception be developed?
Perception can best be understood as deep listening. Listening at every level – physical, mental, emotional and energetic. Like all skills, skill levels and specializations vary. We are often better at perceiving certain aspects than others. Some people are good at perceiving their own mental states, others are good at perceiving their energy levels, others are good at perceiving the world around us. Stil others are good at perceiving the emotional states of others, their physical appearance or their attire.
What causes these differences? Interest.
We perceive deeply what we are interested in. This interest cannot be faked. At a deep level of our being, their needs to be interest in the aspect of the world that we want to perceive deeply.
The level of attention determines your depth of perception
All of us channel our attention to certain aspects of the world. These are areas that we will tend to be naturally good at. Our skills of perception are well developed in those aspects and as a result, we will have uncommon insight into those areas. In other words, it is the level of attention that determines the depth of perception.
This gives us the secret to being more perceptive. All we have to do is to have a deep interest in what we want to perceive with more insight. Interest will become attention which will mature into perception which will culminate in insight.
So that is the secret to being more perceptive – develop deep interest.
